European Drought Risk Atlas

The European Drought Risk Atlas (EDRA) (https://publications.jrc.ec.europa.eu/repository/handle/JRC135215) represents a significant advancement in impact-based drought assessment. It assists in the development and implementation of drought management and adaptation policies and actions. Following two different approaches, the atlas characterizes how drought hazard, exposure, and vulnerability interact, impacting various sectors, including agriculture (e.g. wheat and maize yields), public water supply, energy (hydro-, nuclear power), river transportation, ecosystems (terrestrial, aquatic). Risk is presented for baseline conditions (1981-2010), present day and for projections under different levels of global warming (+1.5 °C, +2 °C, +3 °C). The EDRA website (https://drought.emergency.copernicus.eu/tumbo/edra) provides an interactive partial view of the European Drought Risk Atlas.
