Lena Tallaksen was awarded the 2024 Dooge Medal (International Hydrology Prize) by the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), UNESCO, and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). She was recognized for her exceptional and groundbreaking contributions to advancing the understanding of extreme weather events in hydrology, which have significantly benefited communities. Established in 1981, the Dooge Medal honours distinguished achievements in hydrological science, particularly those that make fundamental contributions to the field. The award ceremony took place in Florianópolis, Brazil, during the IAHS Conference from November 3 to 7, 2024. Lena Tallaksen received the award from Berit Arheimer (IAHS President) and Jean-Marie Kileshye Onema (IAHS Secretary General).
