EDC members were amongst nearly 40 drought experts from Europe and the USA to participate to the ‘sort-out-drought’ workshop co-organised by Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD), the Saxon State Office for Environment, Agriculture and Geology (LfULG), the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the European Commission (EC) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
The workshop fostered discussions on how to best collaborate, share lessons and best practices gained from existing services in Europe and the US, and identifies key challenges around monitoring, forecasting and users engagements, as a contribution to the WMO Global Framework for Climate Services.
This workshop is part of an international effort to present and develop best practices and climate services helpful to deal with droughts, being one of the most costly extremes in Weather and Climate with a strong potential of worsening with Climate Change.
